Australian Hotel Feature: Daydream Island Living Reef Resort

Recently our Director, Georgina took a break and visited Daydream Island. The hotel has recently reopened its doors after a huge refurbishment due to the severe Tropical Cyclone Debbie in 2017. All 277 rooms have incredible views overlooking the resorts pools and tropical gardens, or as the resort states “over the impossibly blue water of the Whitsundays”.

Georgie gives us the scoop on the hotel;

The hotel is truly stunning all the rooms are beautifully appointed, we had a room with an outlook of the marina which was lovely. It has been a few years since I last visited daydream island, I had forgotten that the local resident cockatoos like to visit your room so the room doors must be closed at all times. Thankfully, hotel management warned us about this upon checking in. Along with the usual 5-star amenities there was a huge range of complimentary movies to unwind to each night.

Kid friendly and Romance friendly? TELL ME MORE...

The resort is both kid friendly and caters for couples.  Lots of complimentary activities for both adults and kids throughout the day.  The paid kids club is also fantastic, if you just want a few hours of adult only time. The kids club caters to children 4-12 years. There is also a babysitting service if required.  With the 3 pools, you can always choose where you want to sit, whether it be in the peaceful grass area or closer to the beach with the kid friendly pool.

There is drink and food service around the pool which was fantastic.  I would recommend a 5-night stay or less, as their restaurant selection is limited.  The island is still going through transformation on the south side, and there will be a cinema opening later this year and some other activities.

You can also swim with the resident sting ray. Georgie laughed as she said “unfortunately my son and I weren’t brave enough”.

 It was a great destination to just unwind and chill.
